Spring Run Farm
Barboursville
Spring Run Farm is owned by Mathew Hernon and his family, including his father and young son. They started with a clean turkey CAFO in 19xx but are moving in the direction of pastured poultry raised in association with the "Farmer Focus" brand, which includes over 75 family farms in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas. In addition to raising poultry, the Herndons grow a variety of crops such as the nutrient-dense sorghum (shown above), which is sold regionally for animal feed.

Not only is Spring Run Farm intensely beautiful, but the Herndons are very friendly and eager to share their practical skills and knowledge. They offer a fun and informative family tour as well as a class in composting, which they supply to Barboursville Vineyard.

How Does the Tour Work?
Farm Belle Tour & Delivery Service is a holistic marketing service provided by Sea Billow Scribes, which is a for-profit marketing company that generates revenue for the social enterprise GreenRight. All of the company's profit goes to fund Sanctuary's Ministry, which "Facilitates Natural Healing" for women who have experienced the horrors of human trafficking.

It's a whole different kind of wine tour - one with purpose.
​
On the front end, we provide guided holistic healthcare tours thoughout GreenRight's Farm Treasure Trail, which include three destinations: an"Integrity Farm", a "Great Business", and a "Round Table" venue. On the back end, we delivery fresh produce from the farm to the business.

1) An "Integrity Farm" uses holistic farming practices to produce safe, natural, and nontoxic food & fiber. Choose a farm you'd like to tour and learn a holistic healthcare production skill from - anything from building a chicken tractor to growing culinary mushrooms to spinning clean wool to making fresh goat cheese. Yum.
​
2) A "Great Business" is local, ethical, sustainable, and charitable. The farm chosen will determine which businesses your tour can connect to. The focus here is discerning honest marketing, great business practices, and empowering consumers to drive our economy to greener pastures.
​
3) A "Round Table" venue is a farm-to-table restaurant, brewery or vineyard, which is the final destination. This is where your tour guide will help put it all together and encourage next steps with production goals - all while enjoying the finest farm cuisine and spirited beverages.

Together, we'll figure out the path to health, wealth and vitality while celebrating the fun and worthwhile work of "being the change.."

The "Farm Belles" who lead our tours are women who have recovered from trauma using safe, natural and holistic therapies commonly found on family farms. In addition to providing in depth understanding of holistic healing to our tour guests, they organize an affordable delivery service that helps shore up supply chain gaps in our local community.
​
Our social impact is enormous: We bring pro-activists to some of the best farms in the region where we learn natural methods for growing a strong, healthy, and resilient immune system. We then deliver fresh farm produce to a "Great Business" where we grow in discernment and exercise our individual consumer rights & responsibilities in protecting our community's health, wealth and vitality.
